The benefits of opting for one of our small workshop shed

A small workshop shed is the perfect solution if you’re looking for a sturdy yet compact space for hobbies, DIY projects, or even additional storage. These structures come with a range of attractive benefits:

Space Efficiency: The compact nature of these sheds makes them ideal for smaller yards or gardens, where conserving space is crucial.

Cost-Effective: Our smaller sheds cost less to buy and build than larger buildings, making them a budget-friendly option for most homeowners.

Customisation: Many of our small workshop sheds are available in multiple colours and have optional upgrades, including cyclone kits, skylights, sliding perspex windows, multiple doors, and more.

Privacy: A separate workshop shed provides a private space away from the main living areas, where you can focus on projects without interruptions.

Versatility: These sheds can serve multiple purposes beyond just a workshop; they can be used for storage, as a hobby room, or even as a small home office.

Property Value: Adding a well-constructed and good-looking workshop shed can enhance the overall value of your property.

Australian-Made: All Absco Sheds are manufactured in Australia using high-quality BlueScope Steel, guaranteeing a long-lasting, valuable investment for Aussie backyards.

Easy Assembly: Absco’s small workshop sheds (like all their sheds) come with an easy-to-follow assembly manual (also available via the Absco Assembly App) and their patented SNAPTiTE system, allowing you to lock together the parts without the need for additional screws. It’s quick and easy to erect an Absco Shed!

How to choose the right workshop shed for your yard

When choosing a workshop shed for your property, there are several factors to consider:

Size & Layout
Materials & Coatings
Extra Features
Assess Your Space: Measure where you plan to install your shed, ensuring enough room for the structure and for you to move around comfortably.

Usage: Think about what kind of projects you plan to complete in your new workshop. Choose a layout that accommodates all your tools and equipment and allows for efficient movement inside.
Absco Sheds are made from premium BlueScope Steel and feature a zinc aluminium magnesium (Zincalume) coating for protection against the harsh Australian climate.

We recommend adding a cyclone kit to your purchase for extra strength in high-wind areas.
Windows & Lighting: Proper lighting is crucial for a workshop. Add sliding perspex windows to your shed design and/or plan for artificial electrical lighting indoors.

Security: Look for sheds with lockable doors and windows to secure your tools and projects. Our small workshop sheds come with twin hinges and a pad bolt for your peace of mind.

Insulation: If you plan to spend a lot of time in your workshop, insulation can make the space more comfortable.

FAQs about our small workshop sheds

Do I need council approval to build a small shed workshop?

You will unlikely need council approval for a small backyard shed as they fall under “exempt developments” by law — however, you should always check the dimensions of the shed you intend to purchase and check with your local council before starting construction, just in case.

Do I need a concrete slab for my workshop?

All sheds must be securely anchored to a concrete slab (here’s a guide to laying a slab). Anchors are available on our website (sold separately).

What is Zincalume?

Zincalume is a protective coating with a mix of aluminium and zinc, which prevents the formation and spread of corrosion. All of our small garden sheds come with this protective coating for long-lasting performance.

How do I maintain my workshop?

Regularly check for signs of wear and tear, including leaks, rust, or structural damage. Keep the space enclosed when not in use to protect your tools and equipment, and keep the interior and exterior of the workshop clean to prevent the build-up of dust, dirt, and grime.

You should also keep an eye out for pests and take action to prevent infestations.

Do I need to buy screws and other assembly accessories?

No, all our workshop kits come with a fittings pack which includes all screws, joiners, and pop rivets.

Do I have to purchase my workshop online?

No! Customers can also purchase our small workshop sheds by calling our friendly staff at 1300 66 77 48 and organising a bank transfer. We’ll provide instructions and support to ensure you feel confident with your purchase and subsequent delivery.

Can you install my small workshop shed for me?

Absolutely. Here’s a list of our installers who may be able to assemble your shed for you — they will provide a quote for you directly.
